Question by our readers
When this first started on my lower left leg, I thought I had gotten my first mosquito bite of the season, but that was nearly 2 weeks ago.
Now there are nearly 30 extraordinarily “itchy” bumps on that lower leg, with a few more climbing up the leg to the knee. Same with the lower right leg, but fewer &more concentrated on the calf.
Then there are the few in the area that would be under my watch band (cannot wear a watch right now). Worse the bumps & the itch are covering my front right forhead into the scalpline & hair (which would be the direction I would push my hair out of my face when working outside). And even worse, is the area on the back right nape of my neck into my scalp.
And they are now on the back of my ears.
Another concern is the swelling in my feet & calves - I normally have scrawny, bony feet with sharp ankle bones - no indentation for an ankle bone whatsoever on either foot right now.
Over the last week & a half, I have spend considerable time in my yard & gardens digging out salal & vetch, etc. I’m wondering if I have gotten into something noxious. It seems as tho I am contagious to myself in that it seems that most of the areas now affected are affected because I have transferred it there myself.
I am currently without insurance, so a trip to Urgent Care on a Sunday is financially not feasible if it can be avoided.
I bought Max Strength Double Strength Cortisone & it did NOTHING to reduce the itch. Found a gel product at Walgreen’s called Itch X & it does work & is cooling to the fire itch, but for some reason, this product says to not use it more that 3 times a day, which is fewer times than I need.
This itch is AWFUL - there is no mind over matter - it wakes me up in the middle of the night & drives me crazy all day.
Anyone have any educated guesses & advice for me. HELP.
I am in western Washington state - the rainy part.
